Is this a new course?

Yes, launched by IPAF in 2010, PAV is a new MEWP category designed to give rapid and affordable training to users of these relatively uncomplicated machines.

Venue:   Courses can be held at either one of our depots in Aberdeen or Glasgow, or alternatively either at your premises or on the current site you are working on. If this is the case, a suitable classroom to accommodate up to 8 delegates for the theory session is required. For further information please discuss with our training team.
Who will benefit from this course?

If you operate the uncomplicated push around low level vertical access platforms like the ones used in internal fit-outs, maintenance and theatres then this course is for you. If you already have an IPAF card in either category 1a or 3a you will not need to attend this course. You may need some familiarisation training though and a record in your log book to enable you to operate these machines. Learning Objectives

 The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the essential knowledge required to operate PAV (Push Around Verticals) efficiently and safely

Method

 Instruction both in theory and practical sessions.

PPE You will be required to wear suitable head/foot protection during the practical session

  • PAL Card overview and pre-theory test
  • Legislation and Guidance (ISO 18878, European, HSWA, PWER, LOLER, WAHR & RIDDOR)
  • Pre-use inspections/handovers
  • Safe Operating methods & Hazards
  • Post-Theory Test
  • Practical Training
  • Practical Assessment
  • License Renewal - Use of IPAF Log books
  • Course evaluation and close

Certificate/Ticket

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive an IPAF Certificate and PAL (Powered Access Licence) Card Valid for 5 years.

Qualifications and experience

It would be envisaged that you will have a good working knowledge of the Work at Height Regulations and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
